A massage can work wonders – easing stress, relieving nagging aches and pains, stimulating the immune system to help the body better heal itself and providing a general sense of well-being. Regular massage sessions only help heighten all of these benefits. But as wonderful as a massage session is there are some things you can do to make it even better for you! Here are a few of those things explained:

Drink Plenty of Water – A good massage releases all kinds of nasty toxins that are trapped in your body and those toxins need to be flushed out of it as soon as possible. Drinking plenty of water after your massage session will speed this process up and you will feel even better even sooner.

Exercise – Exercise is great for your health and usually exercise and massage go together very well. Working out can extend the benefits you got from a massage and a habit you should definitely develop. If you are receiving massage because of an injury though you will need to modify a regular exercise program to give your body the time it needs to heal itself, something that a good massage helps it to do.

Diet – As previously mentioned a massage releases all kinds of toxins so if you leave a massage session and then go home or go back to work and proceed to fill up on junk food you will be undoing all of that good work right away! Adding healthier foods to your diet will help keep the detoxification process going strong.

You may also want to lay off the coffee for a while after a massage as all of that relaxed feelings you feel after you leave a massage session can be jolted back out of your system if you then fill it back up with caffeine!
